/M
Pop art artist
/M was born in Lebanon and raised in France. He has been creating a series of sculptural relief works consisting of bath ducks and prints since 2020, while working a full-time job in the finance industry.
As a self-taught artist, his works are stylized in repetition, popular symbolism, and collective memory.
Notable works include Hong Kong Edition and French Flag, which point to the artist’s diasporic background.
Although /M spent most of his childhood and teenage years in France, he has moved to various Asian countries for study and work. Using bath ducks, a children’s toy, as the major motif, the artist turns to art and childhood memory as a way to look for solace when dealing with culture shock and homesickness.
His practice traverses the boundaries between craftsmanship and mass production, print and sculpture, child and adult, by virtue of 3D printing and graphic design.
Right after branching out his career as an artist, /M’s works are exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair (13A New Street Art Gallery, Hong Kong, 2022), and Big Dill Bar (Hong Kong, 2022).
His works are well-received by both expatriates and locals who share the same multicultural upbringing. /M currently works in Hong Kong.
